Math 101 Reminders from DLG:

Version 1.01 of the course notes, covering the whole term through the Brouwer Theorem, is on sale in the Science Center Basement for $15. A few more copies of the latest chapters that I have been handing out in class are on my door, too (Science Center 430).

The course assistants are not holding section on Wednesday, November 24. I will run special reviews on Monday, November 29, in Science Center 310 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm and again from 8:00 to 9:00 pm. Bring your questions to either or both sessions.

The examination will be in class on Tuesday, November 30. Although we have sometimes been referring to this as an hourly, you may take as much of the usual class time as you like to work on it.

The review sheet handed out in class is also available under the examinations button at our website http://www.courses.fas.harvard.edu/~math101/. It lists some vocabulary words to know and some good problems to study from the new edition of the notes. You should be able to state definitions and theorems carefully. Most of the problems will be adapted directly from either homework assignments or the study questions on the review sheet. There will also be just a few items that are very similar to but different from what you have seen before.

As part of your studying, it might be a good idea to do a practice test by picking a few problems from the review list (say 4 or 5) then sitting down for an hour to work them without consulting your notes.

As always, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have questions. My e-mail again is goroff@math.harvard.edu. Or better yet, post items to the discussion section of the website. Recall that to enter there, you should say math101 and then the name of the person (lower case) who devised those famous axioms.

Happy Turkey!
