  • Q: My textbook says f(x) = e^(x) * sin (nothing) on 4(d) in Chapter 2. I think this is a typographical error. Please tell me "sin (what)."

    A: It should read f(x) = e^(x) * sin x.

  • Q: What sort of answer is appropriate for Problem 1 on page 86: Outline an experiment that can determine the value of the constant a that appears in Equation (1) of Chapter 5.

A: This is a pretty open ended question. There is no single correct solution. Certainly, if you can get your hands on the two types of snails, you could try to do an experiment in the lab. Such a small scale experiment might yield enough information about how the snails interact. Be as specific as you can. If both types of snails are not available, what could you do? Examine fossils? Try an experiment with alternate species in the lab? Do field observations? Why would would any of these method give you enough information? Use your imagination.
