Dear Students,
I'd like to remind you that our first midterm is coming up. This message has important information abut the midterm. Please read it and save it.
Midterm I will be given in Emerson 105 and 210. Students whose last names begin with the letters A-Mc go to 105; those whose last names begin with the letters Me-Z go to 210 (this breakup of names is different than what was previously posted).
The midterm tests sections 5.10 (Improper Integrals) through 6.5 (Applications to Physics and Engineering). Sections of the book not covered in class (such as fluid pressure, average value, surface area, and approximate integration) will not be covered on the midterm.
There will be a review session (led by course assistants) on Tuesday, October 25, from 7:30-9:00pm in Science Center Hall D. The review session will be videotaped and the tape will be available for viewing in the library. Due to the Instructional Computing Group's massive backlog, we are not in a position guarantee that streaming video of the review session will be available on the course web sitebefore the exam takes place. We apologize on behalf of ICG for this inconvenience.
To study for the exam, go over all your old homework and make sure you understand every problem. Attempt unassigned problems from sections covered in class, too. The odd problems have answers in the back in case you want to check.
There are also study materials (old exams and a sheet of review problems) posted on the course website, on the "Examinations" page. Other relevant information about the midterms may appear on the FAQ as well.
Please let us know if you have additional questions.
Yours, Matthew Leingang
