Subject[Mathematics 1b] Miscellaneous Updates
DateNOV 11, 2005 10:00:27 A.M.

Dear Students,

I want to let you know of some of the following updates to the assignments.

There was a typo on PS18, #18. The second equation should have dy/dt instead of dx/dt.

RA19 was mistakenly a duplicate of RA18. It has been corrected.

All problem sets and reading assignments though the end of classes have been posted on the course web site. We have updated the Assignments page to link the problem set or reading assignment due for any day to the actual problem set or reading assignment. This should cut down on vertical scrolling and eye-crossing. This was a recommendation from midterm evaluations, so thank those people!

There are some official and unofficial holidays coming up, as well as a midterm. So the schedule of homework and reading is a little skewed. Here are some things you might want to know in advance:

* There is homework due on the Monday (or Tuesday) after the Harvard-Yale game.

* There will not be homework or reading due on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. There is homework and reading due over Thanksgiving break.

* Midterm I is Thursday, December 1, 2005. There will not be homework or reading due on Thursday, December 1 or Friday, December 2. But there is homework due December 5 and 6.

Finally, we have opened up the midterm evaluations for another period to get more responses. If you have not filled out the survey already, please do so. It is easy to do right after one of your reading assignment quizzes. The survey is anonymous, so if you have already filled it out, please don't do so again. Unless you really, really, really, like the course... :-)

Enjoy your weekend.

Yours,
Matthew Leingang
