Welcome to multivariable calculus!
Have a great semester, enjoy learning the math this spring! If anything comes up that keeps you from getting the most of the course, i.e. personal emergencies or other issues with the course, then please get in touch with me, Andy Engelward (engelward@math.harvard.edu), the coursehead for 21a. If you weren't able to make it to the orientation meeting on Wednesday, then you should read through the Course Information and Syllabus for 21a at this link. Well our textbook, Stewart: Multivariable Calculus, Concepts and Contexts should have been available at the Harvard Coop by now, but they ordered far too few copies for the class (in previous semesters they hadn't sold many math 21a books since people were able to buy used copies from previous 21a students, but since we changed textbooks this spring, they should have ordered enough copies for everyone in the class, which they didn't). So... the new copies should be in the Coop by the beginning of next
week (i.e. Monday the 11th or Tuesday the 12th). I'll let you know
as soon as I hear that they've gotten more copies in. In the meantime,
there are quite a number of copies of the book on reserve in Cabot Science
Library (first floor in the Science Center), and we have temporarily scanned
in the sections that we are covering in class right now:
Next, here's the text for the sections we are covering in class right
now:
