Fitting Dow Jones Data

(An example, where data fitting occurs)
Data obtained from chart.yahoo.com. The 3 line unix shell script would fetch first the daily Dow Jones data online depending on the initial and ending dates with "wget", process it to be accessible by Mathematica with "awk" and "grep", then in Mathematica, aquire the data with "ReadList", fit the data with "Fit" and export the graphics with "Export".


Quadratic fit from 1/1999 until 1/2003. Cubic fit from 1/1999 until 1/2003.
Cubic fit from 1/1933 until 1/2003 (70 years). Fit with polynomials of degree 1,2,...,10 with DJA data from 1880 until 2001 (120 years), Data from http://averages.dowjones.com obtained in 2001.
