Subject[Mathematics 23a] missing grades
DateJAN 17, 2006 10:37:09 P.M.

Hey guys,

I am writing to let you know that, as I had promised, I have put in my mailbox the unsigned homework that I have collected this semester. Please take a look to see if any of it is yours (especially if you have been alerted that you have missing grades) because these grades have not been entered, clearly, and so you have not received credit for your work.

If you recognize - and would like to claim:) - any of the homework, please write your name on it (at last:P) and leave it in my box. Also, please record your grade on the sign-up sheet that I have provided. Lastly, if you know that you have a missing grade for a problem that you turned in AND it is not among the mystery-sets in my mailbox, please let me know, and we'll resort to our final alternative policy. In any case, I assure you that I will make every necessary effort to the effect that you don't lose credit because of issues of misplacement. (In fact, it is perhaps a good time for me to make excuses for having so far treated this problem a trifle too lightly. I was convinced that you'd each be allowed to drop your lowest grades on problems, so I concluded that incidents of this sort did not particularly matter. However, I just learned that the course's policy is not as I expected, so yes, I do apologize, and I strongly urge you to check out the sets in my mailbox.)

Sorry for the lengthy e-mail. Good luck with studying and please let me know if you have any questions.

Procrastinatingly yours,

Sashka

P.S. I realize that to some of you this might constitute a terrible shock, but I did not, at any point this semester, burn any of your homework. I do, however, seriously consider the possibility to make a ritual fire of all the sets that you have not picked up -- an intention which, I guess, is ever so slightly less malicious, and perhaps some of you would even like to join me for the event. I will send out an e-mail at the beginning of next term.
