Subject[Mathematics 23a] Problem Set 3

Dear students,

Problem Set 3 is now available on the course web page.

I would also like to use this message to give you a couple of advices. I know you are not high school kids anymore and I shouldn't be telling you all this, but nevertheless, I would like to tell you what you should do in order to be more efficient and in order to do best in this class.

First, try to come to class and follow everything I say. If there is something you don't understand, either ask me (or somebody else) in class, or after class.

Also, try to read your notes and your book every time before class. This way of reasoning is probably new to most of you, so you should spend some time in the afternoons trying to really absorb the material covered in class.

For the problem set, try to solve most of it right away, as soon as it comes out on saturday (or even friday night if you are sleepless...). This way you won't have to think about it for the rest of the week, and if there is some part that you were not able to do, you have a whole week to think about it and/or ask somebody for help.

Try also to have a look at the solution sets written by your CA's. This way you will now how the problem set was really supposed to be solved (and written). In particular your CA's promised me that they will post on the web the solutions for Pset 2 before the end of the weekend (hopefully tomorrow).

Ok, I think that's enough. Have a good Columbus day and I hope I'll see you on wednesday!
Sincerely,

Alberto
