Dear students,
first of all, in the problem set there is a question, namely 1(c), that you can't answer with only the material I covered in class. So it won't count towards your grade. You can either skip the question, or answer it by looking on the book what dimension is. (In fact, I can tell you, it's very easy: a basis of a vector space V is a list ove vectors which is linearly independent and which spans V; the dimension of V is the number of vectors in any basis (we'll prove it's always the same number).
I posted online a practice midterm exam with its solution. I advice you to try to solve it before monday (hopefully trying to do it in about one hour), and only after you solve it have a look at the solution. Both the practice exam and the midterm will have questions on material that was covered in class so far (or that will be covered by friday).
If you have any question, please ask. Sincerely,
Alberto
