Dear students,
the first problem set will be due in my mailbox tomorrow morning at 9:30 am. As last term, late problem sets will be penalized by subtracting 10% of the grade every 24 hour (starting at 9:31 am on friday mornings).
Starting NEXT WEEK (not this week!), there will be a few differences with respect to last term on the way of your problem sets are graded.
Each of you is assigned to one CA as follows:
students CA -------------------------------------- from Allen to Dechter Gerardo Condiaz from Detzner to Krasney Samuel Cross from Kupperman to Pitkin Catherine Visnjic from Pokharel to Zhao Silas Richelson
You will have to hand in your whole problem set to the CA assigned to you (by putting it in his/her mailbox, in the math dept), and the same CA will give your pset graded back the following friday, at the end of class. Moreover, if you have any qestion/concern about your grade, you will have to talk to your own CA (or to me).
Notice that the CA assignment is only related to grading issues. You can still attend all the problem sessions that you like.
Here is the list of all the problem sessions and office hours for the class.
- As you know, I will hold a special office hour/review session every wednesday afternoon. The time of the meeting is alternating at 5-6 pm (in room 309a) and at 7-8 pm (probably again in room 309a). Next week, for example, it will be at 7.
- The CA's problem sessions (you are encouraged to go to at least one every week) are scheduled as follows: 1. Gerardo, Tuesdays 7-8 pm in room 103b 2. Catherine, Thursdays (time and room TBA) 3. Silas, Thursdays 4-5 pm (room TBA) 4. Sam (TBA)
- Finally there will be office hour, held by all your CA's together, on thursday nights, from 8 to 10 pm, to answer your last minute questions related to the problem sets (but let me say that, if you are good students, you should try to finish you psets much earlier than that!)
I hope everything is clear. Please, let me know if you have questions/concerns. Cheers,
