differential equations and multiple integrals.
- Prerequisite: Mathematics 1a,b or the equivalent.
- Text: Stewart, Multivariable Calculus: Concepts and
Contexts, second edition.
- Examination policy: 2 midterm exams and 1 final exam.

- Final Exam: Date, time TBA by Registrar's office
- Note that all exams will be closed-book and that you will not be
permitted to use a calculator during any of the exams.
- Homework policy: Two problem sets per week, due at the
beinning of class on Wednesday and Friday. Assignments and solutions
will be posted on the class website (not this one).
It is OK to discuss the problems amongst yourselves. However each
student must hand in their own solutions that they have written
themselves. (Copying someone else's homework is unacceptable.)
To make the job of grading easier, could you please follow the following
guidelines for homework:
- Write your name on your HW.
- Neat, legible handwriting.
- Write on ONE side of the paper only.
- The problems should be in the order assigned.
- Staple (or paper-clip) all pages together.
- No late HW will be accepted.
- Grading policy: Midterm 1 = 20%, Midterm 2 = 20%, Homework
= 20%, Computer assignments = 5%, Final exam = 35%.
Note that midterms will be uniform across all Math 21a sections. The
final will differ somewhat between Regular, Physics and BioChem
sections. Also note that the lowest two lowest homework scores will be
dropped when calculating your homework grade.
- Drop Date: The drop date for the course is Monday October 18.
