Subject: midterm

Dear QR 26,

Just a reminder that our midterm examination will take place on Thursday, March 23, in class as advertized. It is a closed book exam, but you are welcome to bring a calculator if you like.

A review sheet mentioning some key ideas to keep in mind was handed out in class and posted on the web site. Good ways to prepare include: studying the slides from class, going over the homework exercises, and looking over the readings as they relate to what we did in class (e.g., do not worry about Kreps beyond the basics we have talked about and used).

There will be some essays and some calculations. As in most mathematical classes, you should be ready to give definitions, examples, and explanations of important concepts. Above all, think of questions and make sure you figure or find out the answers. In addition to asking questions during sections, please do not hesitate to post messages at our website or to contact me directly. I am mostly around my office during the day (5-2168) and available via e-mail nearly anytime (goroff@math.harvard.edu).
