From: Robin Gottlieb <gottlieb@math.harvard.edu> Dear folks: The exam will have two parts. You'll get both of them at the beginning. Only after turning in part I will you be able to use your calculator. This policy (which will also be in place on the final exam) is necessary at this point in the course for equity. Those people who have a TI-89 would otherwise have an unfair advantage - or, to put it another way, those people who have 81s, 82s, and 83s would find themselves at a disadvantage. The TI-89s can do symbolic integration and differentation while many of the other models do not. While on the topic of exams - the lowstakes quiz today was not a punitive quiz - despite perceptions to the contrary and the fact that you were told about it at the same time you were urged to do your homework! It was planned before spring break - and a similar quiz on similar material was given in past reincarnations of this course. Please get back to me if you have strong preferences on the day of the review. regards, Robin
