From: Robin Gottlieb <gottlieb@math.harvard.edu> Dear Folks: #3: The graph is wrong. (You can see the correct one on your calculator.) The answer is D < B < A < C Thanks to Jeremiah for catching this. #7. Label the hypotenuse z. We know dz/dt = -11 and want to find d(theta)/dt when z = 5. sin(theta) = 3/z cos(theta) d(theta)/dt = -3z^(-2) dz\dt Using the info from the moment in question, we find that d(theta)/dt = 33/20. Thanks to Maribel for catching this. On the exam itself #10 should say that density is given per cubic inch not per square inch. ******************************************* Mark asked for more practice problems, so I am putting up the 1999 final (without pictures) on the website. It should be up soon - and is available for those who feel they want additional practice. ****************************************** General advice: get enough sleep and come to the exam as fresh and relaxed as possible - ready to think clearly. best wishes, Robin
