George Green, his Achievements and Place in Science
This book was published in 1976 by Nottingham Castle. It contains articles of
R.M. Bowley, L.J. Challis, and F.W. Sheard.
I bound the booklet around 2000 in a second hand book shop and had scanned it
some time later in a lower resolution. Unfortunately, I must had cut and discarded
it before scanning (a common practice I now do do to lack of physical space for the books
which I buy.) The booklet is the best source it seems about the history of George Green, the ``Good Will" of the
19th century. This book is difficult to get it appears. More literature which is easy to access
through libraries are:
- The Mathematical Papers of the Late George Green, MacMillan and Co, 1871
- D.M. Cannell: George Green, Mathematician and Physisist, 1783-1841, The background to his life and work, second edition. SIAM, 2001
- D.M. Cannell and N.J. Lord, Mathematical Gazette, Vol 77, 478, 1993, page 26-51.
