William Fogg Osgood
born March 10, 1864 in Boston, MA. He
graduated here at Harvard and also did here one year of graduate studies.
Frank Cole who had attended Klein's lectures at Harvard in 1885 would
convince him to tudy with Felix Klein in Goettingen. He worked in
the calculus of variations, abelian integrals and differential equations.
From 1890 on, he taught at Harvard until his retirement. He would later
teach 2 years in Peking and live in Belmont, MA.
