The registrar is responsible for scheduling the final exam and all out-of-sequence exams, so all requests for alternate exam times must go through official university offices; please see here for contact information.
Books and calculators will not be permitted on the exam. You may bring one 3" x 5" index card of notes. You may put anything you like on both sides of your index card, but it must be handwritten (no mechanical reproduction). No additional aids are permitted.
The final will be roughly 50% differential equations, 25% integration, and 25% series. As always, remember that Math 1b emphasizes deep and flexible understanding of the material, so you should expect the exam to include problems you haven't previously encountered. As you study, think about the fundamental concepts and strategies you're using, so that you'll be ready to apply them to new problems.
We encourage you to start by reviewing your notes, worksheets, homework, and previous exams to help you recall the key skills and concepts of the course. Make a list of important ideas and strategies for yourself, and talk over your list with other students. The following review questions should help as you look back over what you've learned.
If there are topics that you struggled with or don't remember well, be sure to devote some focused attention to them; work through the worksheets or homework again, and read the solutions carefully. Meet with a TF to go over any questions or concepts you feel unsure about. After you've done a thorough review, the single best thing you can do is to complete a few practice exams without looking at the solutions or using extra aids. After you've finished a practice exam, look at the solutions and grade your work, and make sure you understand your mistakes. Go to office hours with any questions you have!
There will be three course-wide review sessions:
Video from the review sessions will be here as soon as it is available.
See the office hours page for a list of office hours and problem sessions. You are welcome to attend any TF or CA's office hours.
