Sand Sculptures

Sand Sculptures is a visual art which makes use of all three dimensions. Unlike molding (used for metals mostly) or pottery techniques (used for clay or ceramics) or carving (used for wood or stone) which have origins thousands of years ago, sand art is a bit new and also do not last long. The sculptures are formed with various techniques, like carving away material, adding new material on top of others, use buckets for molding parts or then combining first independently built sculptures. There is an annual Sand Sculpting festival also on Revere Beach near Boston See the Boston magazin 2015 or the most recent event in 2019.
