A recent TV series of Apple which promises to have quite a bit of math in it.
A bit "cheesy" but not as much as the "code conspiracy". Factual errors are the
origin of zero. There is no evidence at all that Al-Khwarizmi had a concept of zero.
The use of the Wilson theorem makes the movie non-realistic (as this 1000 year old
result is hardly of research interest per se but useless in the quest
about prime twins or to check for primes). I think that it was smart not to go too fancy
in the math part (there is a more realistic scene in "Sneakers" about number sieves).
A TV series wants to excite also amateur number theory enthusiasts. Wilsons theorem can be proven
very quickly (
example Math E 320 [PDF]). The swarm pattern picture most likely
was inspired by Strogatz book "Sync", who succeeded to make the topic accessible for a general audience.
Of course, the Fibonacci numbers also had to be featured in the TV show. Fibonacci and the golden mean are one of the
top favorite math topics of everybody. It is what one would call "Kitsch" (but as I always say: "I love Kitsch" because
it has earned its reputation).
