From the Notices of the AMS:

We have seen the most beautiful formula e^{π i} + 1 = 0 Confirmed by a psychology study.

But according to the following picture which just appeared in the Notices, this was not the first attempt of Euler. The first version of his formula was not that successful: e^{0 π i} = 1
