Poll from lecture 13
Poll from lecture 14
Poll from lecture 15
This poll turned out to be a difficult one. Both classes answered similarly.
The majority was not right. The fact is that both True-False questions are False!
A) is false because the function could be non-differentiable like
f(x) = -|x-1/2| which has a global max at 1/2 and not at 0 nor at 1
and also not at a point where f'(x)=0.
Also B) is false. An example is the function f(x) = 1/x which is differentiable
on (0,1) but which has no global maximum, neither on 0 nor on 1 nor
on a critical point.
